Debate in net on this symposium brought responses from France, which is reproduced below with my follow-up mails :

Dear Mr.Nandhi Varman,

Thank you for this information. Usually, people are repeating things already known since the British period, let us say the 1910’s, and told by others too on similar occasions. We know already about Barathiyar (one Tamijar having lived in Pudhucchery 1908-1918), Barathidasan, VaNidasan, and some contemporary others who came in the last decades to live in Pudhucchery, though we need recall all this to some young students in Tamil social studies.

I am eager to know whether there has been deep research about the poets/authors native of Pudhucchery who lived in 17th, 18th, 19th centuries. Mayilai Seeni and few others have written about them though very briefly and there could be some more too.

Of course, Anandarangappillai is the first prose writer and paved the way to the first proto-historians in Tamil. But our governments, States and Central, do not know him well and may be refuse to have a correct picture of him. Otherwise, he would have had his stamp on his Tercentenary, on March 30th 2009 or even on the same date last 2010. We won’t be there for his 400th centenary, but I hope Tamijars would have well realizedby then that he was not only the close courtier of the French (there were so many in other communities for the British, the Portuguese, the Dutch and the Danes) but also a great literary author of 18th century.

If your lecture had given new hints to the University students and ignited their curosity, it is indeed a very useful service to Tamils and Tamil literature.

Note: Due to political bias, unfortunately there is no Standard Tamil font until now and I am sorry to use English for this exchange with you.

Wishing you good health for continuing your service to Tamil,

 anbuDan,

M.Gobalakichenane

Dear Mr.Gopalakrishnan          Dear Mr Arokianathan            Dear Dr.Vijayavenugopal  Dear Dr.Bhakthavatsala Bharathy Thiru Sinnathurai Srivas  Thiru Ravi Rao

I have always tried my best to say new things whenever I get chances to speak.  My endowment speech in International Institute of Tamil Studies is attached. Though a book was released on the same subject written by me I ensured at least speech varies incorporating what had not been written. Power Point presentation explaining the book is attached

Unnecessarily a High Court opened the topic that Dravidians are not sons of the soil. It appeared in The Hindu. My rejoinder to that judgment is available in net. That file I am enclosing. Recently spoke in Tamil Department of Puducherry University. Since Dr.Sammandam of School of International Studies was about to preside I thought of preparing a booklet containing my paper in the Seminar organized by School of International Studies titled Colonization-De-Colonization and Re-Colonization and few articles I wrote in New Indian Express pertaining to Puducherry. That unfinished draft booklet is enclosed.

These are proofs to say that I am not repeating like parrots what I memorized during college days and vomiting in every given opportunity. I don’t get frequent chances to prepare new papers. Dr.Ilamathy Janakiraman my sisters friend used to say that someone must do at least an M Phil on what I have written. A magazine Editor from Canada asked me to contribute an article for a book which he wanted to compile and publish. I wrote Nagas are Dravidians, which is yet to be published by him for past 5 years. I have put it in net. That one too I am enclosing.

I am also marking copy to my scholarly friend in London Avarangal Sinnathurai Srivas and Dr.Ira Mathivanan Director of Tamil Etymological Project not to boast about me but to link you all to involve in his net community aimed at proving scientifically the antiquity of Tamil. I also introduce you Ravi Rao, a lawyer who is an etymologist whose articles in net have been read by more than 3 lakh people, who proves Tamil language’s greatness treading the path of Devaneya Paavanar. He can write in English, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu proving Tamil as primary classical language of the world. Copy goes to novelist Nagarathinam Krishna who lives in France.

Let few Tamils join the community of Sinnathurai Srivas and in net deliberate of our past and how to establish our Tamils glory scientifically.

 N.Nandhivarman

 Dear Friends

The article on Nagas is in this book. I prepared this book for International Institute of Tamil Studies for publication. But due to various reasons it could not be done. No other publisher came forward nor do I have money to publish on my own. Please read the articles, and there are few in Puducherry who can write like this. Puducherry should have honoured Dr.Eva Wilden of Ecole Francaise Extreme de Orient and Dr.Jean Delauche with Tamilmaamani award or recommended their names to Padmasri award which one Oriya had obtained in Puducherry quota and was about to go to a dancer this year.

Scholars from other countries who do great service to Tamil are neglected by our institutes.
